[ History ] :
http://futurediary.wikia.com/wiki/Yukiteru_Amano
[ Personality ] :
Normally, one would see the almighty protagonist as heroic, upright, and charming... however, that might not exactly be the case when it comes to terms with Yukiteru Amano. While he does have that charming part set aside (dat bod), he is a little lackluster on the usual thought when someone of importance comes in mind. But what he lacks on the outside is certainly replaced with more important things such as a heart, kindness, and even the ability to shed a tear once in awhile.
Yukki (his fantastic nickname) at first was anything but social. He talked to no one, and when given the opportunity to hang out or accompany others they were quickly rejected. Instead, he spent all of his time recording day-to-day happenings on his cell phone as a sort of diary. With this, he took on the role as a bystander just simply standing at the sidelines with no real purpose or motive. He didn't like to interact with people, mainly keeping to himself and the phone which he kept with him at all times. The only friends he did claim to have where imaginary and only resided inside of his head. That was until his imaginary 'friend' Deus Ex Machina (actually a god. Whoops) suggested Yukki to play something in which survival was the name of the game. Yukki then received a special type of diary which recorded events all around him for the next 90 days-- the Random Diary. Upon given this item, was thrown into a board he never wished to play on. The goal? Pretty much kill everyone until you are the only one left. The prize? You get to be god.
It was during said events of running away from those who wanted to kill him and the overall surviving aspect that Yukki finally came to terms that he never actually wanted to be alone. He was scared, and by that never allowed people to come close to him for fear of getting hurt. He wanted to be praised by others, be in good company with friends, and finally admitted that longing that loneliness was just a lie. He did however find someone to cease that loneliness; a girl name Yuno (whom he had met earlier only to find out she was his stalker) who had also received a diary for the game. With her diary, the Yukki diary, she was able to see into the future everything that was happening to the boy while his diary only recorded things around him. So realizing she could be a great aspect to surviving this game, Yukki decides to rely in Yuno for protection- deciding that with both of them using their diaries together, would create an unstoppable force. Not only that, but the overall aspect of having someone there to watch out for him for the fear of getting hurt. He doesn't like feeling pain emotionally, and that's why he never wanted to get near people. Through rejection, breakups, or passing- constant things of being in a 'relationship' which could break so easily. Yet, with Yuno, that fear of getting hurt and being alone wouldn't be there.
With this, he was able to slowly, slowly allow himself to open up to others in an attempt to break out of the shell he once held himself captive inside. He now tries to make friends, setting a goal for himself to try to put himself out there more rather than just conceal himself within the comfort of his diary. He wants to make friends, and though he is a little awkward in doing so, tries the best he can. When someone finally calls him their 'friend', he clings to that. Since Yukki has never really experienced what it was like to have a friend, the trusting aspect of his personality begins to sink in a little deep. He can be too trusting-- allowing people who will give him a smile or kind word to be mud at their feet. Even then the motives of said friends could be in question, he often has a hard time believing that someone who was so nice to be can be all that bad. It takes him a lot to pull away from a friendship when he deems it so. This attachment though, has lead him to many a downfall when the survival game comes into play.
He is seen to be overwhelmed with emotion. That's right, this boy really brings on the waterworks. But nothing without rightful meaning. Being basically thrown into a game you never wanted to be apart in the first place can bring on the tears, right? Well, maybe not if you're psychotic in the first place (Which, sadly, most of the diary holders are). However, a normal kid with a lack of a normal life might find this to be a little overwhelming. He becomes scared for his life many a times, and as a result tends to express that worry visibly. Yup- most of those feelings are present on the surface and though he does, at times, learn to hide them through mismatched words and skilled one the dot planning. While he is quick on his toes, he still is a child. So if a child wants to cry- they cry. If they get embarrassed- they blush. And boy does Yukki do a whole lot of that. He tends to get flustered in awkward situations and is shown to have normal boy emotions such as a crush he had with another classmate. Also, on top of all of those other emotions, he's impulsive and takes things a little too far to the edge which, sadly, allows him to drop his guard a lot. That little mouth of his usually goes without thinking at first, but isn't that most teenage boys?
Yukki is also, besides all the yandere children running around, a normal kid and fits the actions around his age. He is a simple boy with simple desires and really wants nothing more than to be able to go see the stars with his parents. Since they got a divorce and the reason was uncertain to him, he still believed that they could get back together and hang out as a family again. This was one of his dreams; something pure he tries to carry with him through most of the series. Also, even when in a kill or be killed game he also holds certain morals when it comes to killing. When hearing Yuno claim that she would kill people for his sake, his questions to himself about how she is able to 'kill so easily' regardless of their current circumstances. Yeah, he's a pretty good kid but not always the nicest. In his own tiny way, he uses Yuno. Since she loves him and wants to protect him, he will at times use that to his advantage. Usually by simple compliments or even telling her that she was his 'girlfriend' to prevent someone from getting hurt. Yukki feels guilty about doing this, and while he builds up his lies there isn't really a way for him to get out of it. They rely on each other to basically use one another. Yukki uses her so he won't have to kill, and she uses him all the same from an emotional standpoint. Still, above all of that, he does seem to have feelings for her- even if those said feelings confuse him. This odd attraction between the stalked and stalker put him a position to always be with her, and through that develop unsure feelings for her. He does comment at one point about how 'cute' she looked, and is even willing to risk his life at one point to save her.
So yes. The relationship is weird, and at times very broken considering Yuno has been one of the only people to really make him completely lose his trust. It took some time to reclaim so, as odd as it is, it's still there.
But with Yuno doing all the work (going back to whatever I was talking about before their kawaii relationship), that does put a slight damper on his self esteem. When hard situations arise (which really, is a lot) Yukki is often beating himself up about how useless he is. The boy isn't like everyone else in the game- who can openly go and start hacking each other up for the prize. No, he gets scared and in most of the situations is seen to give up fairly easily. He doesn't think very highly of himself and is disappointed that he is unable to help and gets too scared. Even though Yuno is there to protect him, he still feels as though he should be able to do something, but in the end still works out nicely between them.
Overall, this boy is a pretty sweet guy. He's usually optimistic aside from, y'know, when he's being all NO WHY ME. Yet with that kindness also comes a bit of naivety, too. Since he is still a young boy it's pretty understandable and reclaims most of his innocence aside from being in a creepy psycho killing game. He's also very intelligent, too. He knows how to use his head when needed, and though at times it doesn't look like it, he's pretty much got most of the situation under control- aside from the tears.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
Yukki doesn't have much when it comes to physical strength aside from his dart skills. He has many set up in his room where he practices- so his aim is pretty spot on. However he can, at times, make up that lack with mental. When he's not freaking out, Yukki can actually think of pretty good plans, and learn to control certain situations to his advantage. Also, because of his role of being an observer, he is always paying attention to everything around him. So noticing things almost comes natural to him. Other traits include:
✔ Mentally stable- well, for now.
✔ Concerned
✔ Optimistic
✔/✕ Emotional
✔/✕ Forgiving
✕ Gullible
✕ Self-pity
✕ Impulsive
[ Other Important Facts ] :
Yukiteru's diary, as stated above, is a Random Diary which gives records of the future through an observer's point of view for the future. Because of this, it is counted as one (if not the) most powerful diary in the whole game- thus why he was given the name '1st'. Also cause god likes him the most oops.
